off on a two-week scandinavian tour. highlights include iron maiden, climbing in an old silo and a larp staged in the hamptons, in the early 1980’s.
midsummer coming up. this day holds two traditions. (1) enjoy midnight lights on a cliff. (2) watch sophie scholl.

finally made it to the climbing gym last night. not the usual one, as it has been subject to arson (sadness, hopefully opening sometime mid-june), but back to where this addiction’s first seed was planted, karbin. grades are way more difficult, grips weird, the bouldering sort of evil. i.e., fun time. they sell flapjacks. had to give up before muscles were done, as my hands have grown soft....
loving on the people who has organized a four day board games convention (and invited me!) at their apartment in sthlm during the bank holidays coming up around the first weekend of june. said convention will run for some 85 hours straight.

yay for wonderful settlers gaming. eight hours, five guests, heavy trade wars, three games in my bag. lots of nibbly eatings. first and foremost: indoors. screw the sun.
back from london, had a blast, found really unpricey quickdraws. + four t-shirts and akira part III.

mighty tired. one day of work then time off. saturday will be excellent, me and mixo are learning lead climbing.
yes! fucking fisted that nemesis green 6c wall on second try tonight. + some decent bouldering. less lucky: a hole has appeared in one of the shoes, rather unfixable. will hence hunt for new shoes in london come april.

drinking in mexico city
been in mexico city for a couple of days for meetings. jet-lag-crash down around 9-10pm has been standard, but last night the party happened around the block, so managed to stay out until 12pm. a very good idea.
evening started off in a cozy italian organic restaurant, where we gathered around two small tables in the back with a fantastic argentinian syrah and a couple of bottles of organic brew...
well, THIS WEEK included two 6b+ routes. we’re fighting with 6c, but all that comes out of it is blood.
next week = off to mexico city, through heathrow. fun time.
this week’s wall fisting included another two 6b routes. getting there.

the upside of having days off mid-week in a work week is that everyone else is busy. spent all of yesterday in the apartment. saved up energy for tonight’s climbing. (monday involved utter fatigue and a significant number of wounds with trickles of blood. win.)
made grand plans to travel around the uk by train with admirable friends in july. had the mexico ticket for february delivered. spent lots of time drinking sparkling water in bars. bonded over online gaming and created faux headlines. other than that loads of climbing which now includes credible nods from veteran young men over my fancy shoes. things are nice.
miesten vuoro (steam of life)
been spending a lot of time at the cinema lately. first I thought there was nothing that could match easy a as the best movie I’ve seen in five years (probably in the top five marathon list of high school films), but then I saw the finnish documentary miesten vuoro (steam of life). it’s 84 minutes of finnish men discussing (often extraordinarily sad) life experiences.
towards the end...
people need to discuss public administration. it’s everything.

frenzy
off to see the full five and a half hours version of fanny and alexander. snow is falling in large amounts and tiny flakes, creating dunes making the suburbs look like a white desert. spending nights working on things related to #talkaboutit.
